Summers are a challenging time for refugee families. Students lose the support systems they have established during the school year and many parents, already overextended, must juggle childcare in addition to their jobs and other responsibilities. World Relief’s Summer Enrichment Program aims to create a space for refugee youth to build community, expand on the academic progress achieved during the school year, and pursue emotional and mental well-being. During the program (July 10th - August 2nd), volunteers will oversee enrichment activities, tutor students in areas of academic weakness, and chaperone field trips. By providing educational and cultural services to students, World Relief hopes to give refugee youth the opportunity to flourish academically, physically, and emotionally.
