15 hours/week (flexible) 

Internship Timeframe: 

Full-time interns (30-40 hours/week) serve a minimum of one semester. Part-time (15-30 hours/week) serve a minimum of two semesters.

Internship Description:

World Relief Durham’s mission is to empower the local church to serve the most vulnerable. We work with a large network of churches, volunteers, donors and community members to partner with the refugee community to help them thrive and reach self-sufficiency in the U.S. We cannot accomplish our mission without professionally communicating our mission, opportunities for involvement, refugee stories, upcoming events, processes for volunteer engagement and ways to serve.

The Creativity & Story-Telling intern works to accomplish our mission in this way. He or she serves as an asset to the organization as a whole, especially to the volunteer coordination & church engagement department. This intern works to develop, create and produce these marketing materials.

This intern is free to voice his or her creative ideas for improving systems, communication, materials, etc. He or she must have a great eye for detail, be quick to learn, and be skilled at project juggling and prioritization. Additionally, he or she is welcome to suggest projects based on possessed skill sets and passions. He or she must be a self-starter, possessing skills in both independent and team work. A heart for the refugee community and commitment to seeing it served through relationship with the local Church is core to this position. The internship would increase an intern’s knowledge of Christian Community Development (CCD), non-profit operation, time management and task prioritization, the refugee community, organizational skills, creative and marking skills, and church mobilization.

Specific Internship Responsibilities:

The focus of this internship would be developed based off of a selected applicant’s skill sets. He or she does NOT have to have skills, but SOME of the skills to accomplish the following. 

  • This intern would work to design layout, create graphics, produce content, take photographs, shoot video, etc. for:
    • Brochures
    • Flyers
    • Handouts
    • Banners
    • Website
    • Newsletter
    • Blog
    • Presentations
    • Trainings
    • Other materials
    • Marketing
    • Communication
    • Graphic Design
    • Videography
    • Photography 
    • Layout
    • Public Relations
  • This intern would be skilled and experienced in some of the following:

  • This intern is encouraged to provide and use his or her own equipment (i.e.DSLR camera, videography equipment) or software (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite- Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) to accomplish tasks.
